FERO Thermal Tie™ – Slotted Block Tie (Type II) Masonry Connector

FERO Thermal Tie™ – Slotted Block Tie (Type II) Masonry Connector (“Slotted Block Tie (Type II)”) affixes masonry veneer walls to a structural backing like concrete block masonry. This tie is designed to transfer lateral loads while accommodating construction tolerances. The Slotted Block Tie (Type II) system consists of a double-Slotted Block Plate, different from the Slotted Block Tie (Type II), which uses a single slot rather than two shorter slots. The two slots in the tie each allows up to 1 inch of vertical play, and this ensures vertical flexibility regardless of where the Plate is fastened to the masonry backing. This tie offers greater vertical adjustability, reduced displacement, and higher strength. The double-slotted plate is mortared directly into a head joint in the structural backing. This creates a stable integration and reduces any play, deflection or connector deterioration. This tie is not designed to resist movement vertically and can reduce the effectiveness of the entire wall assembly to function as a whole. To further resist movement, shear and load in cavity walls, check out our FERO Thermal Tie™ – Block Shear® Masonry Connector.
