FAST Thermal Bracket Offset Shelf Angle Support and FAST-FLEX™
FAST Thermal Bracket™ Offset Shelf Angle Support Solution for 1841 Broadway

1841 Broadway is a 25-story, 281-foot-tall residential building on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by INC Architecture & Design and developed by Global Holdings Management Group, the building will provide 173 affordable housing units and 11,741 square feet of retail space on the first two levels.

1841 Broadway’s façade consists of a mix of glass interspersed with vertical pleated panels and black brick bands that wrap around each level. FAST Thermal Brackets™ are being used to provide a high-performing, thermally broken shelf angle system and to support this curvaceous façade.

For various piers throughout the building, some with heights exceeding 33”, custom FAST Thermal Brackets were designed and manufactured to support the tall wall to window height of the façade. Our FAST-FLEX™ system was also integrated to accommodate the rounded corners of the structure. FERO’s custom products not only supported this building’s unique design but were much more affordable than using conventional shelf angle and rolled bent plate designs.

Overview

Greenpoint Landing is a 22-acre master-planned development site located on the Brooklyn waterfront with a view of the Manhattan skyline, bringing a mix of ten residential towers and low-rise buildings, a new public school, and four acres of parkland. The buildings are located on reclaimed industrial use lands, and the brick veneer utilized in the building design provides continuity with the historical neighborhood.
